What knowledge do spectators bring to the film?

Booksmart is clearly not an adaptation, its neither a franchise at this moment in time. In fact its a completely new idea brought to you by debut director Olivia Wilde. Because of this she is far from well known creating quite a large statement to the film making industry. Being the first female director, and to be honest she seems to set the standards high.
